Events and Special Activities at Lakeside Children’s Academy

Pre-Kindergarten Graduation

In August, we celebrate our children who are moving onto Kindergarten. Families and friends gather to watch the ceremony and then to enjoy cake and punch. The kiddos are given Graduation Books which include art work, progress reports, and pictures throughout their years here at Lakeside. This is a fun event as we send our little graduates on to their next step in life.

Family Events at the Academy

We schedule family events throughout the year for families to visit their child’s classroom. This is also a time for siblings to be together in the academy with their families. Our teachers, as well as children, plan these events with enthusiasm and excitement. Some examples of Family Events are Grandparent’s Day, our Halloween Parade, Donuts with Dads, Muffins with Moms, Free Holiday Morning, Santa’s visit to Lakeside, quarterly Family Nights, and our Annual Birthday BBQ.

Free Holiday Half Day

Each December, Lakeside offers four hours of free child care on a Saturday. This is a way for Lakeside to THANK our families for choosing us. Our families use the time for shopping, cleaning, or just “mom and dad time.”

Week of the Young Child

The Week of the Young ChildTM is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young ChildTM is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Lakeside children enjoy special activities to celebrate this week!

Dr. Seuss Week

Each year Lakeside children celebrate Dr. Seuss Week! This is always the first week in March. Each day throughout the week, the children have a theme or special activity: class color day, hat day, pajama day, and crazy hat day. The kiddos eat Green, Egg, and Ham on Friday for lunch!

25th Anniversary Celebration

In August 2017, Lakeside Children’s Academy celebrated 25 years in business. Lakeside opened in 1992 and is family owned and operated.

The celebration was held on a Tuesday afternoon from 4:00-6:00 pm. Over 300 people were in attendance. The Carnival Themed afternoon had carnival games for children, a raffle for families, a bounce house, D.J., magician, face painting and the Bubble Bus. Families ate BBQ hot dogs, chips, and cake. The Valley Park Fire Department joined the party and the children could see a fire truck. Customized Lakeside 20th Build A Bears were made for the event!

It was a fantastic afternoon for the children, families, and teachers. Lakeside is looking forward to the next 20 years of family, friends, education, and fun.

Manchester Homecoming

In the fall, Lakeside participates or sponsors an event at the Manchester Homecoming. This has been a Lakeside tradition for over 10 years. We invite families and teachers to walk the parade route with us. Our teachers decorate one of our busses based on the annual parade theme. In the past, Lakeside has won “Best Commercial Vehicle” and “Best Participation.” After the parade, we all go to Dairy Queen for lunch – on Lakeside. This is always a fun Saturday morning for all!!!

Trick or Treating with Grandfriends

Families are welcome to join us for our annual Halloween Parade! It is adorable seeing all the cute costumes and taking class pictures. After the parade, our preschool and pre-kindergarten children walk to Cape Albeon and Garden View Care Center. The children Trick or Treat with our older friends. Halloween is one of our favorite days of the year!

Thanksgiving Feast

Our Thanksgiving Feast is served the Thursday before Thanksgiving Day. Our Kitchen Manager prepares our traditional meal – turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries and pumpkin pie. Our feast day celebrates kindness and friendship. The children love eating this special meal with their friends.
