How long do your teachers stay at Lakeside? Is there a high turnover rate?
We are fortunate at Lakeside to have loyal and dedicated teachers. We are proud many of our teachers have worked at Lakeside for over five years. This is important for the consistency of care for your children and for you.
What type of training do your teachers do each year? Are they CPR or First Aid trained?
All Lakeside teachers are CPR and First Aid trained. Our teachers receive at least twelve hours of Continuing Education annually. We ensure these courses are related to their age group and train on important topics. Lakeside partners with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, United 4 Children and the Missouri Chapter for NAEYC
When does my child need to be potty trained when they move to your Pre-School Program?
We do not require our preschool age children be potty trained until they are four years old. We may begin working on this important milestone as early as our toddler classroom. However, we work with children and understand they all develop in their own time. We have a changing table in our youngest preschool room to assist with diaper changing.

What is your policy on sick children?
Children should not attend Lakeside if they are running a fever above 100°. We use our best judgment for other illnesses. Our number one priority is keeping our children healthy and safe. However, we understand families need to be at work too. If we have questions about an illness, we require the child sees a doctor and then if it is not contagious, they may return to Lakeside.
Will I be charged if I take a vacation or if my child is sick?
Full time families receive one week of vacation each year; after you have been enrolled for one year. Your child must be absent to use this vacation credit. Families are responsible for tuition if your child is absent because of an illness; special exceptions may be made by Laura, Director.
What types of security do you have to protect my child?

Lakeside’s front door is always locked. Families receive an individual door code, giving access to the building. All classroom doors are locked. We only unlock them when we are outside on the playground and then we lock them again. The east and west hallway doors are locked throughout the day. Lakeside has security cameras monitoring the facility and panic buttons to alert police throughout the building.
